In the multiplicity of today’s narratives, one narrative stands out. The narrative that our world is a lot more complex and its complexity stretches us as individuals, as we try to make sense of it. In our quest to find meaning, we seek ways to build resilience to these complexities and challenge the problem narratives in our lives.

We believe that a starting point to building resilience and challenging our beliefs is by understanding ourselves better. It is often the case that we do not take out time to reflect on our values and what is most important to us. Understanding ourselves better, could help us understand how our identities shape the decisions we make as parents, partners or employees.

An unconventional tool in unlocking such new knowledge is Lego Serious Play. Lego Serious Play methodology is a result of leading research from different fields of study based on the concept that thoughts and ideas built with our hands, tend to be expressed in greater detail and are more easily understood and remembered.

In response to a question, each participant builds their own three-dimensional LEGO model using specially selected bricks. Using metaphor, they share the story of the model with other participants and as a way of internalizing, they reflect on what was heard or seen in the model.

Through the application of a series of special techniques to the core process of the Lego Serious Play methodology, we shall build concrete understandings of our identities and visually explore it through metaphors and story making. Through this exercise, we will lay the foundation for deep reflection about how understanding ourselves better can help us lead a life that is coherent with our believes and build resilience against the pressure that is put on us by our ever more complex environment.
